From Josef Agile, Aliade
A 69-year-old man, Nyiigbe Haave of Mbatyo, Gee council ward of Gwer East Local Government Area, Benue State has allegedly committed suicide over his inability to put a stop to his wife’s promiscuous life by drinking a deadly chemical known as sniper.
The incident which took place last Monday has thrown the Haave family and the Mbatyo community into mourning.
In a chat with the younger sister of the deceased, Mercy Haave, she told The Voice that before he took his last breath, the late Haave revealed that his wife’s continuous shameful acts and his inability to stop her were responsible for his action.
She further revealed that her late brother had two failed marriages due to the inability of the women to give birth.
According to her, her brother was happy when his third marriage gave him a baby girl, who was five years old before he discovered that his wife was having affairs with other men, which resulted into unresolved disputes between him and his wife.
According to Mercy, several meetings with the wife’s family and the late husband to stop her from the act proved abortive.
“Infact our family no longer accommodate her because of her characters”, she maintained.
Efforts to get comments from the Police Divisional Officer (DPO) in charge of Aliade were unsuccessful.
