The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) President, Bishop Daniel Okoh, has condemned the recent attacks in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas of Plateau State as “premeditated”.
This was disclosed on Thursday in Jos during CAN’s distribution of relief materials to victims of the attacks. Represented by CAN Vice President, Stephen Baba Panya, Okoh extended condolences to affected families and expressed solidarity with the people of Plateau State.
“We stand in solidarity with the people and government of Plateau State, particularly the communities and families directly affected in Bokkos and Bassa Local Government Areas,” he said.
“These attacks demonstrate an alarming level of inhumanity to humans expressed by terrorists. We convey our deepest condolences to all those affected.”
Okoh commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Caleb Mutfwang for their efforts but urged the Federal Government to intensify its efforts towards a lasting solution to the violence.
Regarding the relief materials, Okoh said, “While our contribution may not fully address your needs, it is an expression of our concern, love, and care for you.” The materials included building materials, foodstuffs, and toiletries.
Reverend Father Polycap Lubo, CAN Chairman for Plateau State, received the items on behalf of the state chapter, expressing gratitude to CAN’s national leadership. He noted that the relief materials would significantly alleviate the suffering of displaced persons in the affected communities.
