The Executive Chairman of the Benue State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Dr. Grace Adagba, has presented financial scholarships to 14 students from Jechira studying Agriculture and Science-related courses in various higher institutions across Nigeria.
The presentation was made on Friday during the launch of the “Divine Consensus for Alia 2027” at the Vandeikya Township Stadium.
Dr. Adagba explained that the initiative aimed to promote Governor Hyacinth Alia’s achievements and support his mandate through strategic empowerment programs. She added that the scholarship scheme was designed to equip students with the necessary financial support to excel and become self-reliant upon graduation. The second phase of the scholarship scheme is expected to commence in September, and Dr. Adagba encouraged parents to encourage their wards to apply. Notably, an NGO in Turkey has expressed willingness to support about 100 students in the next phase.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Benue State, Dr. Benjamin Omale, commended Dr. Adagba for the initiative, describing it as a model for all appointees under the Alia administration. The Technical Adviser to the Governor on Media, Publicity, and Strategic Communication, Hon. Solomon Iorpev, highlighted the achievements of Governor Alia’s administration, including infrastructure development, youth empowerment, and health sector repositioning.
The Chairman of the scholarship scheme, Prof. Efosa Kenneth, commended Dr. Adagba for her accomplishments and encouraged the students to make good use of the funds.
Tor Jechira, Chief Edward Ujege, also praised Dr. Adagba’s leadership at SUBEB, noting its positive impact on basic education in the state. He emphasized the importance of educating the girl child, saying, “When you train a girl, you train a nation.”
The scholarship beneficiaries expressed gratitude to Dr. Adagba for the opportunity and promised to utilize the funds for their academic pursuits.
