In a gesture of goodwill, the management of Dangote Group of Companies has donated 20,000 bags of 5kg rice to the Plateau State government for distribution to the poorest members of society. The donation was made on Tuesday at the Old Government House in Jos.
Bashir Adamu Kawu, representing the company, stated that the donation aimed to alleviate the suffering of the less privileged due to the removal of fuel subsidies by President Bola Tinubu’s administration.
Governor Caleb Mutfwang, receiving the rice on behalf of the beneficiaries, expressed gratitude to Aliko Dangote, CEO of Dangote Group, for supporting his administration’s efforts to tackle hunger. The governor also called on other philanthropists in Nigeria to emulate Dangote’s example.
The Executive Secretary of the Plateau State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA), Sunday Abdul, assured that the agency would ensure the rice reaches the intended recipients. The rice is intended for vulnerable persons in Jos North and Jos South local government areas.
The Dangote rice palliatives were formally handed over to the chairmen of the respective local governments for distribution to beneficiaries identified by council executives.
