Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has emphasized the importance of promoting Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage to instill cultural values in young Nigerians. He made this call at the 2025 National Museum Day celebration, hosted by the Eggon people of Nasarawa State in Jos, Plateau State on Tuesday.
The governor, accompanied by the Speaker of the State Assembly, the Emir of Lafia, and other top traditional rulers, highlighted the significance of cultural activities and traditions in shaping the identity of Nigerian youth.
The Gbong Gwom Jos, Da Jacob Gyang Buba, commended the National Museum and Monument officials for entrusting the Eggon people with the hosting rights, allowing them to showcase their vibrant culture and customs.
The Eggon people, renowned for their rich cultural heritage and warm hospitality, are eager to share their traditions, customs, and historical artifacts with the world. The National Museum Day and Monument celebration, an annual event, provides a platform for various Nigerian tribes to display their unique cultures.
Governor Sule urged traditional rulers and parents to inculcate cultural values in children, ensuring the transmission of these values to future generations.
In a notable departure, the 2025 International Museum Day celebration will span two days, featuring cultural performances, exhibitions, workshops, and lectures, providing a comprehensive showcase of Nigeria’s diverse cultural landscape.
