The Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN), Nasarawa State chapter, has congratulated the Nasarawa Amazons for their historic achievement in reaching the final of the President’s Cup.
The team secured a 2-0 victory over Edo Queens in the semi-finals, held in Ayingba, Kogi State.
In a statement signed by Comrade Smah George, Chairman of SWAN in the State, the association hailed the team’s determination, courage, and tenacity, which have earned them a place in the annals of women’s football history in Nigeria.
” The victory is seen as a testament to the team’s status in Nigerian football and a source of pride for the people of Nasarawa State.
“The association praised the commitment of the team’s management, technical crew, players, and stakeholders in the football industry, citing their impressive performance in the tournament.
The statement also commended the state government’s support for the team, urging the Amazons to build on their momentum and win the President’s Cup when they face Rivers Angels in the final.
