The Education Secretary (ES) for Otukpo Local Government Area Education Authority (LGEA), Anthony Ameh, has pledged that teachers in his area will vote massively for Benue State Governor, Rev Fr Hyacinth Alia, to be retained in 2027. Mr. Ameh made this known during an interaction with The Voice on Thursday in Otukpo
He attributed the governor’s efforts in the education sector to include the provision of instructional materials, massive renovation and building of schools, regular payment of salaries, pension, and gratuities, as well as training and retraining of teachers. He also highlighted the recent recruitment of 9,000 teachers in the state, describing it as revolutionary.
“We teachers in this LGEA can’t forget Governor Hyacinth Alia’s good works in the education sector in a hurry,” Mr. Ameh said. “Look at his provision of infrastructure, regular payment of salaries, pension, and gratuities, the restoration of school sports, as well as arts and crafts. What more can I say about our governor? Is it his recent massive recruitment of teachers using the most transparent method or his recent training of teachers in Information and Communication Technology?”
He commended Dr. Grace Adagba, the Benue State Executive Secretary, Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), for her transparent handling of the teacher recruitment process, which he described as novel in the annals of recruitments in Benue State.
“The problem of shortage of manpower in our organization is now a bygone with the incoming of the new teachers,” Mr. Ameh noted. He called on parents to justify the state government’s huge investment in the sector by enrolling their wards in public primary schools and also reelect the governor in 2027 to keep the good works going.
The Education Secretary also thanked God for the restoration of peace to crisis-torn villages in his local government and appealed to the government to continue providing security personnel to such areas to ensure total peace.
