Niger State Governor, Umaru Bago has urged residents to fervently pray for peace, growth, and development in the state and country. The governor’s message was delivered by his Deputy, Comrade Yakubu Garba, after observing the Eid prayer at the Minna Eid prayer ground.
While expressing gratitude to Allah for His mercies, Governor Bago called for sober reflection and urged residents to pray for victims of the recent Mokwa flood disaster. He also advised those living along riverbanks and farmers to exercise caution due to weather forecasts warning of imminent floods.
Former Niger State Governor, Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, emphasized that every Islamic function is a sacrifice and that Eid il-Kabir is a call for total submission to Allah. He encouraged people to unite, pray fervently, forgive one another, and show love and care to the less privileged.
The Chief Imam of Minna, Mal. Jibril Imam, in his sermon, urged Muslims to reflect on the teachings of the sacrificial festival and strive to become better Muslims by drawing closer to Allah in worship.
The Eid prayer was well-attended by prominent figures, including the Emir of Minna, Alh. Umar Faruk Bahago, former Governor Dr. Mu’azu Babangida Aliyu, Secretary to the State Government Abubakar Usman, and other government officials.
