Christians have been reminded to live their lives with the consciousness that God is always watching and observing their actions, and will ultimately reward or punish them accordingly. This message was delivered by Barr. Felix Terseer Anongo, a member of the NKST (Universal Reformed Christian Church), Iortyer and a legal practitioner, during the Tiv worship service on Sunday at the Church Auditorium.
The theme of the service, “The Lord is watching you and people are also reading you,” was drawn from Luke 21:1-4, where Jesus observes the poor widow’s offering and commends her generosity. Anongo explained that just as Jesus watched the widow’s actions, He is also watching ours, including our challenges, marriages, relationships, and secret deeds.
Referencing 2 Corinthians 3:1-4, Anongo encouraged the congregation to live pure and clean lives, reflecting the image of Christ. He emphasized that as Christians, “we are the light of the world and are meant to shine by doing good works that glorify God (Matthew 5:14)”. He also reminded them that their bodies are the temple of God (1 Corinthians 3:16) and that God sees all their actions, whether in secret or in public.
Anongo cited examples from the Bible, such as the story of Ananias and Sapphira (Acts 5:1-6), who were punished for their deceit, and the parable of the sheep and goats (Matthew 25:31-46), where those who served the needy were rewarded. He urged the congregation to be mindful of God’s omniscience and to live their lives in accordance with His will.
By living righteously and doing good works, Christians can reflect the image of Christ and bring glory to God. As the Bible reminds us, “The Lord is watching you,” and it is essential to live our lives with this consciousness.
