Benue State indigenes based in Jos, the Plateau State capital, paid a solidarity visit to Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Senator Dr. George Akume at his Abuja residence in Maitama on Saturday and congratulated him for a job well done.
The leader of the delegation, David Gbaum, on behalf of the members of the group known as “Friends of Sen. Dr. George Akume on the Plateau,” expressed appreciation to President Bola Tinubu for appointing Dr. George Akume as the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), a first of its kind in the history of the North-Central states.
Gbaum seized the opportunity to solicit widespread support for the office of the SGF and President Tinubu’s administration to enable them surpass their predecessors in delivering effective governance. He, however, expressed concern over the escalating attacks and killings of citizens in Benue State and called for an end to the violence.
Responding, Senator Dr. George Akume, a two-time Governor of Benue State and elder statesman, expressed gratitude for the visit and pledged to be even more dedicated to his duties.
The Nigerian chief scribe informed his guests that President Tinubu’s policies and programs aim to comprehensively overhaul the economy, yielding far-reaching benefits, and urged Nigerians to support the administration in achieving its goals.
Senator Dr. Akume added that President Bola Tinubu has designed an eight-point agenda for his administration aimed at providing good governance to all Nigerians.
The SGF was decorated with Tiv traditional attire by Chief Dennis Ukeyima on behalf of the delegation, signifying honor to the office of the SGF and to Dr. Akume himself. The group, consisting of 50 individuals from the Tiv, Idoma, and Igede communities, presented other gift items to him.
